Bernadette reveals some very explosive news to a new friend on The Big Bang Theory

It's been a season of many milestones.

And Thursday's episode of The Big Bang Theory, titled The Valentino Submergence, definitely keeps that pattern intact. 

While there are several revelations during the Valentine's Day episode, that involving Howard and Bernadette is the unexpected stunner.

Early on in the episode, Howard and Bernadette Wolowitz, played by Simon Helberg and Melissa Rauch, look to celebrate the holiday with a dip in their new hot tub, but find what appears to be a rat floating in the frothing water.

Luckily, the hapless creature is not a rat, but turns out to be a small rabbit, which the couple immediately begins to nurse back to health. 

Caring for the sick animal is not without its pitfalls however, as Howard is soon bitten by the fluffy interloper.

Of course his neuroses take over and he quickly opts to rush to the hospital for a shot to prevent a possible rabies infection.

After Howard leaves the scene, Bernadette drops the bombshell: she's pregnant.

'We’ll find another time to tell him I’m pregnant,' she secretively suggests to the critter.

The big reveal means the show is going to take on a whole new dimension in the coming episodes and seasons.

Co-star Kaley Cuoco, 30, who plays Penny, recently spoke to Variety about the new storyline, and how it will affect the show.

'Her with the baby and everything, I’m sure that’ll come up with some hilarious storylines and some really funny stuff for them. So that’ll just throw another, again, funny storyline for everyone to play with. It’s going to be really fun.'
