How Canadian NHL teams fared last night

The Leafs, Jets, and Canucks were in action on Friday night. Here's a quick look at how they fared:

Champions descend on Toronto

The Toronto Maple Leafs were no match for the defending Stanley Cup champions as they fell 4-1 to the Chicago Blackhawks at the Air Canada Centre.

Chicago has quietly strung together 10 wins in a row. 

Patrick Kane filled up the scoresheet for the Blackhawks, notching his first career regular season hat trick and putting the game away with an empty-netter. 

Horvat owns the Hurricanes

Bo Horvat scored two goals, including the decisive marker in overtime to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 road win over the Carolina Hurricanes. 

Just nine days ago, the Canucks centre turned in a similar performance against Carolina by finding the back of the net twice in what also amounted to a 3-2 victory. 

Those four goals account for half of Horvat's output this season. 

Jets shut down Wild

A tidy 24-save performance by rookie Connor Hellebuyck and a goal by Blake Wheeler carried the Winnipeg Jets to 1-0 win over the Minnesota Wild. 

It marked the first time this season that Minnesota was held scoreless.

Hellabuyck won his NHL debut against the Wild on Nov. 27.
