He was lashed by detractors after forgetting to thank them as he collected his Golden Globe.
And Sylvester Stallone made sure he did not make the same mistake twice as he name-checked his costar Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler as he picked up the gong for best supporting actor at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday.
The Creed star was overcome with emotion when it emerged he had won the prize for his seventh silver screen turn as Rocky Balboa, gasping when his name was read out.
Laughing matter: Sylvester Stallone remembered to thank Creed director Ryan Coogler and costar Michael B. Jordan at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday
But he is not nicknamed Sly for nothing, and effortlessly named the men he infamously 'snubbed' last week, even though he had actually ran back onstage to praise them when the cameras had stopped rolling.
He said: 'Before I get into any more trouble, I just want to say thank you to my director, he really is a genius, I mean it.
'He made it all happen. As you know as actors, they create the environment and they just set the mood.
Big shout out: He thanked Ryan, Michael and even female costar Tessa Thompson after scooping the best supporting director award
Recognition at last: No doubt Michael and Ryan were thrilled to finally be thanked publicly for their efforts
'I am truly amazed. I did not expect this tonight.'
And as the crowd lavished him with a standing ovation, the 69-year-old delivered the knockout blow to his critics, though he added an extra flourish by also thanking a female costar.
He added: 'Michael B. Jordan, you're a great, great talent and you're here for a long, long time. Really great.
'Tessa Thompson, brilliant. Again this is a young woman with a great, great career.'
Dramatic stuff indeed, especially after last week's storm in a teacup.
Over The Top response: Sylvester reacted with complete surprise when he won yet another prestigious prize
Popular winner: Everyone seemed thrilled the action man had finally been recognised for his acting
Much o-Bliged: The actor thanked Mary J for handing over the expensive paperweight
The Rambo favourite even heaped praise upon actors who were not even in the film, this time his fellow previous best supporting actor winners.
He said: 'I am truly amazed, I did not expect this tonight, I swear to you from the bottom of my heart. There's so many great supporting actors.
'They're all great actors. I'm kind of late to this party, and I’m very, very appreciative of it, really.'
Thank heavens: He briefly looked to the skies after scooping yet another award for his seventh turn as Rocky
Working those biceps: He seemed to be sizing up whether his award would make a good impromptu dumbbell
In fact he was in such a good mood he even thanked the critics, who had tore some of his previous work such as Rhinestone, Cobra and Over The Top, to shreds.
The actor, who is worth an estimated $400 million, said: 'I don't know what more to say other than critics are important.
'I never used to understand critics. I thought, "Uh God, that sounds like my parents, 'No, No.'"
Punching out his critics: The muscleman delivered an verbal knockout to those who had complained he had snubbed his colleagues the previous week
Suit you sir: The star was dressed in a wonderful bespoke two-piece at the event
'But actually I've realized, they're being very, very instructive, and when I go back and read the reviews years later, I go, "God, they were right."'
Last week the likes of Samuel L Jackson and Selma director Ava DuVernay took to social media to land a few low blows after they thought he had snubbed Michael and Ryan during his Golden Globes speech.
However the former gave him his seal of approval when he learned there had been a mix-up, saying: 'General consensus...Caught up in the moment. I'm good with that, ok?! Off camera thanks, works!'
'It was an accident': Stallone had much explaining to do after last week's Golden Globes blunder
Don't get creed-y: Sylvester is now favourite to finally land an Oscar but there a long way to go yet
