It's a legal battle that's been going on since October 2014.
And in the latest development in the saga between Kesha and her producer Dr. Luke, the case against the pop star's mother was dismissed on Wednesday.
Dr. Luke had accused Kesha, 28, and her mother Pebe Sebert of defamation and breach of contract - but TMZ reports that a judge in New York threw out the case against Pebe this week.

Small victory: Kesha's mother Pebe Sebert has won a lawsuit filed in New York against her by the singer's producer Dr. Luke
Dr. Luke (Lukasz Sebastian 'Luke' Gottwald) had also accused Pebe of attempting to extort him if he didn't let Kesha out of her record deal.
Luke's lawyers apparently couldn't prove Pebe had control over Kesha and there were also 'jurisdiction issues' which persuaded judges to throw out the case.
The only problem now is Luke filed a similar suit against her in Tennessee and so is hoping to have more success there as it's still active.
Messy business: In her original lawsuit against Dr. Luke, real name Luke Gottwald, Kesha alleged sexual assault, sexual harassment and emotional abuse and he countered with the defamation and breach of contract suit against her and her mother
In his original lawsuit, Luke claimed Pebe fueled Kesha's anger against him and launched a smear campaign.
Meanwhile a court hearing to decide whether or not Kesha can break her contract with Sony has been postponed until February 19.
The singer filed a preliminary injunction request in late October 2015 claiming her career had been on a hiatus and will be 'effectively over' if she is not allowed to resume recording with another producer and label.
Postponed: The 28-year-old is still waiting for her court date to find out whether or not she can break her contract with Sony
In her lawsuit against Dr. Luke, real name Luke Gottwald, she alleged sexual assault, sexual harassment and emotional abuse.
Dr. Luke then countered with a breach of contract and defamation lawsuit.
Before the original court hearing last month the Tik Tok hitmaker thanked fans for their continued support, and confessed how nervous she was.
'it's a f***ing rollercoaster but that's life. and I will never stop making art,' Kesha vented her frustration in a video message last month ahead of her court date
'it's a f***ing rollercoaster but that's life. and I will never stop making art,' she wrote said in a video. 'maybe my life will go down an unexpected path, but the message will always be the same. love, acceptance, compassion, equal rights, human rights, animal rights. and that really is my passion and purpose. and no one can ever stop me from fighting the good fight. don't worry babes❤️luv you all.'
Using the hastag #FreeKesha, fans had organised via social media to turn out at the court house with posters supporting her bid for freedom.
But just hours before the hearing was due to take place, Kesha informed her supporters it had been moved due to the storm, venting her frustration and sorrow for all the people who had made the effort and prepared to support her.
