Enduring the worst season of his NHL career, Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby missed the team's morning skate on Sunday and is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Crosby, a two-time scoring champion, has struggled to find his typical all-star form in 2015-16, registering six goals and 16 assists through 32 games.

Crosby's struggles have coincided with the Penguins 15-14-3 record and the team's five-game losing streak.

Pittsburgh's recent slide cost Mike Johnston his job as the coach was fired on Dec. 12 in favour of Mike Sullivan.

The Penguins currently sit in sixth place in the Metropolitan Division.
