Lightning coach Jon Cooper joked that the biggest adjustment the defending Eastern Conference champions have to make for Saturday involves "the panic factor about having to win Game 2."
He later conceded the second game of a series does get a team's attention `"a heck of a lot more," especially after losing Game 1 at home.
"Now you have a better feel for maybe who can play against who, what teams do," Cooper said. "Regardless of all the video you watch, until you're in the trenches with them, you really don't have the viewing of what's going on. Now we definitely have a better idea. We've got to play better if we want to beat these guys."
The Islanders, meanwhile, hope to build off momentum from the opener.
"The team obviously that loses the game, I think always knows how important the next one is and not to lose two in a row," New York captain John Tavares said. "We obviously expect their best, and we obviously want to raise our game, take it to another level and build off the first one."
Vezina Trophy finalist Ben Bishop allowed four goals on 13 shots in the Game 1 loss. Cooper is confident he'll bounce back, and Bishop knows he has to.
"I expect to be better," Bishop said. "I'm not going to change the way I play. Some nights the puck just finds ways in, some nights maybe those don't go in. It's just one of those things where you stick with your structure and more times than not you'll be successful."
The Islanders, in the second round for the first time since 1993, are building confidence by the victory. They've proved to be resilient, winning one game in overtime and two other in double overtime in advancing against Florida in the opening round. They fell behind early in Game 1 before scoring four consecutive goals to take control.
"We still have some guys that are young and haven't been there," coach Jack Capuano said. "I just think overall with this group, I've seen the maturity. We're down early in a lot of games this year, and we find a way to comeback. Maybe two, three, four years ago, that wouldn't have been the case."
