Her suspension ended for helping her ex-boyfriend evade doping controls, Olympic bronze medallist Carolina Kostner says she will return to figure skating competition in September.

The Italian told a news conference on Thursday that returning any earlier would be premature and that she would resume competing when the new season opens.

Kostner resumed a full training regime in November, and was eligible to return to competition in January. She finished second in a sanctioned invitational in Japan last month, 12 points behind Canadian Joannie Rochette.

Kostner has said she hopes to compete in another Olympics.
