The Voice winner Jordan Smith announces his engagement with seasonal pun and picture of bling-wearing fiancee

There are few things more enjoyable than cracking a seasonal pun.

But no doubt The Voice champ Jordan Smith would getting engaged to the woman you love is certainly one of them after he announced he is to tie the knot with his girlfriend Kristen Denny.

However the 22-year-old will have won new admirers after he managed to combine the two in an hilarious posting on Instagram where he showcased his new fiancee and her engagement ring.

The wizened wordsmith-cum-warbler captioned the image: 'RINGING in the new year with my future wife. She said YES! #Mr&MrsSmith.' 

His unfitting message soon found favour among his army of 105,000 followers, and had amassed more than 27,000 likes within hours.

The bride-to-was happy too, posting on Facebook, '2016…You're definitely my favorite #Engaged #Mr&MrsSmith.' 

Jolly Jordan celebrated his latest life-changing event in true style on Saturday night, by taking in an exciting NCAA college basketball game between Kentucky and Mississippi.

First the Buddy Holly lookalike got the ball rolling by giving a rousing rendition of the national anthem prior to tipoff, which drew rapturous applause from the crowd.

And the Kentucky native will have must have felt like it was his lucky day, as his team ran out impressive 83-61 winners.

Jordan is actually a native of Harlan County, and is a senior at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.

On a live finale that also featured performances by some of the biggest names in music - including the pop pixie himself Justin Bieber - he held his hand over his face in shock as he was named the season champion.

Following his stunning victory he has been signed up for a contract with Republic Records.
