The Big Picture photography competition: the best of 2015

The Big Picture photography competition has received more than tens of thousands of entries since it began seven years ago, with images of all that is weird and wonderful from our readers’ travels. As we approach our 400th instalment this year, the variety and quality of these photographs continue to inspire, surprise and delight us each week. Some of the most captivating images of the past year have ranged from dramatic hidden caves and serene snowy landscapes to colourful and characterful wildlife. Here we reveal our favourite winners from the past year, including Andrew Beales, The Big Picture Final competition winner (our readers' pick of their favourite travel photograph of 2015) and recipient of a D750 + 24-85mm KIT (£2,249.99) and a 105mm f/2.8G MICRO NIKKOR lens (£781.99) from Nikon.
