Raptors overcome 4th quarter deficit to beat Hornets

DeMar DeRozan had 23 points and Kyle Lowry added 18 points and 11 assists as the Toronto Raptors rallied to beat the Charlotte Hornets 104-94 Friday night.

It was the fourth double-double of the season for Lowry, who helped Toronto come back from a seven-point deficit entering the fourth quarter and avenge a 109-99 loss in Charlotte last month.

DeMarre Carroll and Patrick Patterson both added 14 points each for Toronto.

Kemba Walker had 18 points for the Hornets, who also got 17 from Marvin Williams and another 15 points and nine rebounds from center Cody Zeller.

The Raptors took the lead for the first time since the second quarter on a 3-pointer from Lowry with 8:30 to go in the fourth. But Cory Joseph provided the real highlight on the play, putting Brian Roberts on the floor at the top of the key with a stunning crossover before finding Lowry beyond the arc.

A pair of 3-pointers from Williams tied the score at 94 with less than five minutes to play, but Lowry pushed the Raptors over the finish line with another 3-pointer, followed by one from the corner for Carroll.

Three-point shooting underpinned a solid start by the Raptors, as they registered 50 percent from beyond the arc on 4-of-8 shooting to take a one-point lead after the opening 12 minutes. The Raptors ultimately shot 45.5 percent from beyond the arc on 15-of-33 shooting.

DeRozan shot 7 of 11 from the field, including making both tries from 3-point range, for 19 points as the Raptors and Hornets ended the first half locked in a 55-all stalemate.

After shooting just 2 of 11 in the first half, Walker came alive in the third quarter, going 4 of 5 for 10 points as the Hornets seized the initiative, scoring the first seven points of the quarter and taking an 82-74 edge into the fourth.
