'Involved' Delaney keys Canadian sledge hockey victory

Ben Delaney does more than just score.

Delaney had the third-period winner as Canada shut out South Korea 2-0 on Monday at the world sledge hockey challenge, but head coach Ken Babey noticed his play without the puck more.

"He scored the goal but that's not why I thought he was outstanding," said Babey from Bridgewater, N.S. "I just thought he was involved in the game all night. He was putting his nose into the tough areas."

Dominic Larocque made eight saves in net for Canada (2-0), while Tyler McGregor added an empty-net goal.

'Character, stability'

"[Larocque] is coming along, he's progressing," said Babey. "He brings a lot of character and stability in our back end."

Goaltender Man-Gyun Yu stopped 21 of 22 shots for South Korea (0-2).

Canada will face the United States (2-0) Wednesday in the final preliminary round game of the tournament.

"We have to play as a team, we have to play as units on the ice," said Babey. "Tonight I don't think for the first half of the game we played as a unit and we need to do that.

"If we approach the game from a team perspective and playing as a unit it's going to be a strong challenge against the Americans and we're looking forward to it."
