Carl Soderberg scored a goal and added an assist as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 on Monday.
Jarome Iginla also scored his 13th goal of the season and Semyon Varlamov made 36 saves for Colorado (23-21-3).
Joel Armia scored his second NHL career goal for Winnipeg (21-22-3) and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 31 of the 33 shots he faced.
The Jets again failed in an attempt to win a third straight game this season.
Playing the first game in a season-high six-game homestand, the Jets were without injured forwards Adam Lowry, Mark Scheifele and Drew Stafford.
Winnipeg outshot the Avs 12-10 in the scoreless first period. Both teams were 0-for-1 on the power play.
Colorado didn't waste time in the second period as Soderberg scored his ninth goal of the season at 1:16 off a rebound. The Avalanche have scored first in 30 games this season.
Colorado boosted its lead to 2-0 on the power play after Jets forward Blake Wheeler was called for interference.
Soderberg sent a pass from beside the net out to Iginla, whose shot went over Hellebuyck's blocker when the rookie goalie couldn't get back over fast enough.
Wheeler had a shot hit the post with five minutes left in the game. Winnipeg then went on the power play with Tyson Barrie in the box for tripping, but couldn't capitalize.
Armia scored with the extra attacker with 42 seconds left in the game.
The Avalanche have beaten the Jets in three of the five games they'll play this season.
Winnipeg hosts Nashville on Thursday, while Colorado returns home to play Buffalo on Wednesday.
