Kate Winslet was the first winner at the 73rd annual Golden Globes on Sunday night.
The 40-year-old won best supporting actress in a film for her stunning work in Steve Jobs. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill presented the actress with her gong at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles in front of Hollywood's biggest stars.
Kate beat out some stiff competition in her stacked category, including, Jane Fonda (Youth), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Helen Mirren (Trumbo), Alicia Vinkander (Ex-Machina).
‘I just have to kiss them sorry,’ Kate said after embracing Channing and Jonah (who was hilariously and confusingly dressed as the bear from The Revenant) onstage. ‘I really am actually extremely surprised and overwhelmed.’

‘Is this really happening this is really happening?’ she gushed.
‘What an incredible year for women in film! I feel prouder than ever to be included this year,’ Kate added.
‘Michael Fassbender you are a legend. I would watch you every day. I still don’t know how you did it. Thank you. Danny Boyle I wish you were in this room. Aaron Sorkin, okay you are crazy I don’t know you write so many words. I would die saying them. To my husband you make it all possible.’

Kicking off the night, Ricky Gervais, who hosted the evening for the fourth time, took to mocking and satirizing the nights winners before a single nomination was announce.
Sipping a beer onstage, he said: 'If you do win tonight you should know that no one cares about that award as much as you do. Don’t get emotional it is embarrassing. That award is worthless. It is a bit of metal that some nice old journalsts wanted to give you to meet you and get a selfie.'
Going into Sunday night, Todd Haynes' 1950s romance Carol leads all nominees with five nods, including best picture (drama) and best actress for both of its leads, Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.
In the best picture category, it will compete with Spotlight, The Revenant, Room and Mad Max: Fury Road.
Adam McKay's finance farce The Big Short tops the comedy side with four nominations, including best picture (comedy) and nods for Steve Carell and Christian Bale.
The category's favorite, though, may be Ridley Scott's sci-fi adventure The Martian.
The two films are nominated alongside Spy, Joy and Trainwreck.

Close comedy pals Jennifer Lawrence (Joy) and Amy Schumer (Trainwreck) will compete for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical, alongside Melissa McCarthy (Spy), Maggie Smith (The Lady In The Van) and Lily Tomlin (Grandma).
While their record in predicting Oscars glory has been hit-and-miss, many see the Globes as a pretty strong indicator of films and actors destined for an Academy Award on February 28.
Netflix earned a leading eight nods on the TV side, where nominations were scattered across streaming services, broadcast and cable.
Mozart In The Jungle won Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy
Six shows come in tied for the most nominations with three: Fargo, Mr. Robot, Outlander, Transparent, American Crime and Wolf Hall.
Presenters at Sunday night's Globes included Jim Carrey, Amy Adams, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, Jamie Foxx, Eddie Redmayne and Channing Tatum.
Mel Gibson returned to the Hollywood spotlight after keeping a low profile for almost a decade following an explosive drunken-driving arrest and public custody dispute.
All eyes are on Ricky Gervais, who raised eyebrows for his controversial jokes when he hosted the show for three years starting in 2010.
The caustic comedian, who takes over from co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, has a reputation of poking fun at everyone from Mel Gibson to Angelina Jolie, as well as the Hollywood Foreign Press, and this year he is not expected to hold back.
Gervais has made his apologies in advance for what he will say.
'Because I can see the future, I'd like to apologize now for the things I said at next week's Golden Globes,' he tweeted on January 1.
