Sunday's NHL action included the Senators, Leafs, Jets, and a provincial battle between the Oilers and Flames. Here's a quick look at how they fared.
Flames down Oilers, set franchise record
The Calgary Flames defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-3 and set a franchise record in the process with their 11th straight home win.
Johnny Gaudreau and Mark Giordano each scored a pair of goals for the Flames, while Benoit Pouliot struck twice for the Oilers, who held a 2-0 lead until Calgary erupted for four goals in the second period.
Leafs look sharp
The Toronto Maple Leafs, who hadn't played since Dec. 22, did not seem rusty after their return from the holidays as they beat the Islanders 3-1.
Tyler Bozak and Michael Grabner scored a couple quick goals in the second period to give Toronto all the breathing room it would need.
Jonathan Bernier picked up the win and made 25 saves.
Senators halt slide
The Ottawa Senators defeated the Boston Bruins 3-1 on the strength of a pair of goals from forward Mark Stone and 38 stops from goaltender Craig Anderson.
The Senator and Bruins square off again on Tuesday in Boston.
Jets blank Penguins
Rookie Connor Hellebuyck made 30 saves to earn his first shutout and Bryan Little scored the lone goal of the game on a penalty shot to lift the Winnipeg Jets to a 1-0 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.
