Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec placed on injured reserve list

Winnipeg Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec has been placed on the injured reserve while he recovers from a lower-body injury he sustained in Saturday's game against the Arizona Coyotes.

Pavelec will be out for all of December and could remain on the injured list well into January or February, head coach Paul Maurice said Monday.

He was shaken up following a collision with Shane Doan late in the second period, after the Coyotes captain was pushed into Pavelec by Jets defenceman Mark Stuart.

The Jets recalled goalie Connor Hellebuyck from the team's AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, on Sunday.

The Jets announced on Monday that the team has recalled forward Joel Armia from the Moose.

The 22-year-old right wing has played in 14 games this season with the Moose, gaining six points and 16 penalty minutes.

Armia played some games with the Jets during the pre-season before he was sent to the Moose.

Originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round, 16th overall, in the 2011 NHL draft, he played one NHL game with the Buffalo Sabres in the 2014-15 season.

Armia was acquired by the Jets earlier this year, along with Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Brendan Lemieux and 2015 draft pick Jack Roslovic, in exchange for Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian and Jason Kasdorf.
