It was an eventful Saturday for Dmitry Orlov.
First, the Washington Capitals defenceman was questionable for the evening matchup against visiting Colorado after he took a puck to the mouth during the morning skate.
Then, he displayed nice hands midway through the second period when he dragged the puck fancily through his legs and skated by two Avalanche defenders to get a shot on goalie Calvin Pickard.
But it doesn't end there.
With Pickard and players on both teams looking down for the puck, Orlov had it ricochet on his waist and drop at his feet in the corner. The Russian rearguard quickly skated out from the corner to the slot and fired the puck behind Colorado blue-liner Tyson Barrie and past Pickard to the short side.
"I was scared if referee would make a whistle," Orlov told reporters after Washington's 7-3 victory. "I can see like empty net so I wait, wait, wait and start moving to middle.
"It's kind of funny situation and hard to explain. It just happen."
It also just happened to be Orlov's first goal since March 2, 2014 after the 24-year-old missed all of last season with a broken wrist.
