Eamonn Holmes has been slammed by viewers after the TV host said Prince's 'flamboyancy' was a 'problem' for male fans.
Speaking the morning after the legendary musician's death on Thursday, the 56-year-old sent fans into a furore while sharing an anecdote about playing Prince's music during his time as a disco DJ.
Looking back at his experiences around 1999, he said: 'I think there was a problem with Prince. He was more of a girls' artist than a boys' artist.'

Talking with his wife and co-host Ruth Langsford, he continued: 'We find it hard to relate to him because there's that flamboyancy that you had with Davie Bowie as well.'
Eamonn's suggestion that the icon's extravagant persona was a 'problem' instantly angered grieving fans as they flocked to Twitter to chastise him for the comments.

A Twitter user fumed: 'Eamonn Holmes is a monster. How he's had such a long career is beyond me, 'while another wrote: 'Since when has anyone given a damn about anything Eamonn Holmes says...'
Someone else added: 'Is this a comedy version of #ThisMorning. Insulted a dead guy. Now just said a bird would take more than 2 hours to makeover.'

Later in the morning show, Eamonn and Ruth then went on to get confused about Prince lyrics as they argued about his song Kiss.
The Purple Rain hitmaker was found dead at his home and studio complex in Paisley Park, Minnesota, his publicist confirmed. He was 57.
The likes of Mariah Carey,Justin Timberlake and Quincy Jones revealed their sadness as Madonna wrote: 'He changed the world!! A true visionary. What a loss. I'm devastated.'
Chaka Khan, who had a huge hit in 1984 with I Feel For You, a song originally written and recorded by Prince in 1979, shared a photo of the two of them walking arm-in-arm from that era.
'I LOVED him, the world LOVED him. Now he's at peace with his Father,' she said of the devout Jehovah's Witness.
