Macx Davies top Canadian in 25th

Martin Fourcade of France won the men's sprint Thursday at the BMW World Cup biathlon event at the Canmore Nordic Centre in Alberta.
The Olympic champion and World Cup leader posted a winning time of 23 minutes 51.5 seconds and didn't miss a target over the 10-kilometre course.
Anton Shipulin of Russia took silver 15.7 seconds back of Fourcade. Germany's Simon Schepp finished 18.7 seconds behind to earn bronze. Shipulin and Schepp also shot clean rounds.
Macx Davies of Canmore, Alta., was the top Canadian in 25th.
Canada biathlon and cross-country ski teams train at the Canmore Nordic Centre.
It's the first time in over two decades the venue has hosted a biathlon World Cup.
The competition continues Friday at 1 p.m. ET with the women's sprint live on CBCSports.ca.
