New York Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh suffered a concussion following an altercation with Philadelphia Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds during a game on Saturday afternoon.
The Rangers revealed on Twitter that the defenceman would miss Monday's game against New Jersey due to the injury, but did not elaborate on his condition.

Simmonds received a match penalty and a game misconduct for punching McDonagh in the head during the first period.
The incident was preceded by McDonagh cross-checking Simmonds in the face and slashing him in response to the Philadelphia forward's attempted hit along the boards.
McDonagh was penalized for slashing and high-sticking and did not return to the game, but the Rangers went on to claim a 3-2 shootout victory in his absence.
After the NHL reviewed the play, the league decided not to pursue further discipline and Simmonds was in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Washington Capitals.
