There were five Canadian NHL teams in action on Saturday night, including a pair of all-Canadian matchups in Vancouver and Edmonton. Here's a quick look at how they fared.

Unlikely heroes in Vancouver

With the Maple Leafs decimated by injuries and head coach Mike Babcock looking for someone to step up, Mark Arcobello and Brendan Leipsic heeded his call in a 5-2 victory at Edmonton. Arcobello, in his 14th appearance with Toronto, scored his first two goals 17 seconds apart in the second period. Leipsic's third-period marker in his NHL debut stood as the winner as the Leafs snapped a three-game skid and won for the first time in eight visits to Rogers Arena.

Sens lose 3rd in a row

Senators newcomer Dion Phaneuf struggled to win with Toronto this season and is now 0-3 in an Ottawa jersey after his team dropped a 4-2 decision in Columbus. Boone Jenner scored twice and Cam Atkinson posted his sixth multi-point performance of the season with a goal and an assist as the Blue Jackets won for the fourth time in five games. Bobby Ryan and Cody Ceci scored for the Sens while Phaneuf collected his third assist in as many games with Ottawa.

Pavelec stands tall in return

Ondrej Pavelec made like Connor McDavid in displaying little rust in his return from a three-month injury absence. Pavelec, who missed 33 games with a knee injury, stopped 21 of 22 shots in regulation and overtime in leading the Winnipeg Jets to a 2-1 shootout victory in Edmonton. Andrew Ladd scored the winner against Oilers goalie Laurent Brossoit, who made his season debut for an ill Cam Talbot. McDavid, who recently returned from a broken collarbone, failed to extend the shootout to a fourth round after Pavelec denied the 19-year-old Edmonton rookie.
