'Deeply troubling': Leonardo DiCaprio vaping during SAG Awards draws swift rebuke from American Lung Association

Leonardo DiCaprio has been scolded by the American Lung Association for smoking an e-cigarette during the SAG Awards.

The 41-year-old actor was pictured vaping at his table during the awards ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The American Lung Association called DiCaprio's conduct 'deeply troubling,' according to an article on Monday by TMZ.

The nonprofit organization dedicated to improving lung health also pointed out the health risks associated with vaping in a tweet on Monday referencing the SAG Awards.

'Spot someone vaping at the #SAGawards Sat. night? Learn more about health risks of #ecigs: Lung.org/ecigs,' the group tweeted.

The group on its website said that e-cigarettes are 'entirely unregulated by the US Food and Drug Administration' and studies have shown secondhand emissions include cancer-causing toxins.

DiCaprio at the awards ceremony won the SAG Award for best male actor in a motion picture for his role in The Revenant.

He paid tribute to the cast and crew of The Revenant and also thanked his parents.

'To my parents, thank you for listening to an overly ambitious, slightly annoying 13-year-old kid who wanted to go on auditions every day after school,' he said.

DiCaprio has been smoking e-cigarettes since at least 2013.

While it is illegal to smoke vape pens in Los Angeles restaurants, bars and other public places, the prohibition does not include 'theatrical production sites' such as the SAG Awards.
