They named him Baba.
Lobster fisherman Barry Sullivan and his daughter, Cassandra, found a strange crustacean when checking traps this week off Herring Cove, N.S.
"It was very unusual, I'd never seen a unique lobster before," said Cassandra.
The lobster stuck out like a sore thumb to the pair, on account of the extra claw it was sporting on its left side. The extra claw doesn't function, so there is no need for an elastic.
Since being pulled from the trap a few days ago, Baba has been spending time at the Now We're Cookin' restaurant, but he's being kept away from the boiling water pots.
The Sullivans are hoping to find a new home for him soon, preferably in a museum where people can see him, says Cassandra.
"So he's not hidden away, that would be nice," she said.
Sullivan says in his 40 years of fishing, he has never seen anything quite like Baba.
