​Thousands exited Madison Square Garden on Monday night no longer in panic mode.

That's because Henrik Lundqvist, the 2012 Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL's top goalie, returned to his early-season form in the New York Rangers' 2-1 victory over the visiting Boston Bruins.

King Henrik entered the contest with the 30th-ranked goals-against average this season at 2.54, but came up big in the final minute of regulation with the Bruins net empty. Lundqvist finished with 31 saves and none bigger than his beauty against Bruins forward Max Talbot.

New York opened its season with a 16-3-2 record and 1.75 GAA but had gone 6-11-3 with a 3.50 GAA since entering Monday, clinging to second place in the Metropolitan Division.

In Lundqvist's first 17 starts this season, only once did he finish a game with a save percentage under .900. Prior to Monday's game, he sported a save percentage of .900 or lower in eight of his previous 11 outings and in six of those games had allowed four or more goals.

Trailing 1-0 to Boston, the Rangers scored twice in the third period, with Jesper Fast recording his career-high seventh goal with 1:42 left in regulation.
