Charlie Sheen has revealed the bad news that his HIV numbers are 'up' - a sign that the amount of virus in his blood has increased.
But the actor has only himself to blame - telling Dr Oz that he stopped taking his medication in order to seek alternative therapies in Mexico.
'I'd been non-detectable,' Sheen revealed to the talkshow host on Tuesday, before adding: 'I found out the numbers were back up.'
'I've been off my meds': Charlie Sheen reveals his HIV 'numbers are up' after he sought alternative therapies in an interview
The 50-year-old actor was inspired to seek alternative therapies after he experienced undesirable side effects from the cocktail of medication which had got the virus under control.
'A lot of people came forward with treatments and cures and claims of such,' he said.
Looking rather flustered, he admitted in his interview: 'I'm a little off my game, because right before I walked out here, I got some results that I was disappointed about.'
Sheen had publicly vowed to follow his doctors treatment plan in an open letter after his diagnosis became public late last year.
Opening up: Sheen revealed his decision to seek alternative therapies had led to his health declining
During the show Dr Oz aired a pre-recorded segment in which Sheen had boasted about ditching the medication.
'I've been off my meds about a week now,' he said from Mexico, where he was being treated. 'I feel great. Am I risking my life? Yeah, so what?'
In the segment, Sheen revealed he had sought treatment from Dr. Sam Chachoua - who Dr Oz told the audience was not licensed to practice medicine in the U.S.
Dr Oz shared part of an bizarre conversation he had with Chachoua, in which he revealed he had risked infection by injecting some of the HIV-positive actor's blood into himself.
'I drew some blood from him and I injected myself with it and I said, "Charlie, if I don't know what I'm doing, then we're both in trouble now aren't we?"' Chachoua said by phone.
He called Sheen 'the first person in history without antiviral therapy' to be cured.
But it seems the new reports of his HIV levels had sobered Sheen, as the former Two And A Half Men star told Dr Oz he would now start taking his medication again.
