How Canadian NHL teams fared yesterday

The Ottawa Senators and Calgary Flames were in action on Sunday, with the Senators looking to halt a losing skid and the Flames trying to build off a win.

Here's a quick look at how they fared:

Senators find winning formula

The Ottawa Senators defeated the New York Rangers 3-0, snapping a two-game losing streak in the process.

Craig Anderson provided a strong presence in net by turning away all 35 shots he faced. 

Bobby Ryan opened the scoring late in the second period, while Mike Hoffman and Jean-Gabriel Pageau created some breathing room in the final frame.

Hurricanes blow out Flames

The Calgary Flames were beaten 5-2 by the Carolina Hurricanes in front of a thin crowd in Raleigh, N.C.

The Hurricanes' offence was led by Kris Versteeg, who registered two goals. The Flames fell to 0-15 this season when trailing after the first period.

The two teams meet again on Feb. 3 in Calgary for a rematch.

The Flames have one game remaining, on Monday against the Dallas Stars, to end a five-game road trip.
