How Canadian NHL teams fared last night

The Winnipeg Jets were the latest Canadian NHL team to attempt to harness the San Jose Sharks, while the Edmonton Oilers skated on the road against a surging Arizona Coyotes team. Here's how they fared last night.

Jets can't suppress Sharks

The San Jose Sharks are developing a healthy appetite for feasting on Canadian teams. For the third game in a row the Sharks defeated a Canadian opponent, beating the Jets in Winnipeg, 4-1.

The victory followed San Jose wins over Toronto Maple Leafs 7-0 and the Calgary Flames, 5-4.

Chris Tierney scored shorthanded for the Sharks, while Joe Thornton, at even strength, Joe Pavelski on the power play and Joel Ward with an empty-net goal completed the attack.

Nikolaj Ehlers' power play score for the Jets which tied the score at 1-1 was the only blemish on San Jose goaltender Alex Stalock, who made 21 saves.

Oilers jolted by Domi hat trick, OT winner

The Arizona Coyotes roared back from a 3-1 deficit on the strength of Max Domi's first career hat trick and an overtime goal with nine seconds left by Oliver Ekman-Larsson to edge the Edmonton Oilers 4-3.

Edmonton built a 3-1 lead on the strength of goals by Leon Draisaitl, Justin Schultz and Benoit Pouliot, the latter's 1:02 into the third period. Domi, who became the fourth 20-year-old this season to score a hat trick (including teammate Anthony Duclair, Nathan Mackinnon and Sam Reinhart) had a goal in the second period and two power play goals in the third 3:01 apart to even the contest.

Arizona's Ekman-Larsson scored the winner on a power play 21 seconds after Taylor Hall was sent off for high sticking. It was the Coyotes fourth win in a row.
