The Montreal Canadiens can't seem to catch a break.
Captain Max Pacioretty left Tuesday night's match against the Columbus Blue Jackets after taking a P.K. Subban slapshot to the face in the second period.
Pacioretty skated off the ice, and it was later announced that he would not be returning to the game. Montreal would not elaborate on the nature of the injury.
The 27-year-old leads his team with 19 goals and 17 assists in 49 games.
Montreal went on to their second consecutive 5-2 loss against the 30th-place Blue Jackets.
