Italian skiers Mattia Casse and Christof Innerhofer led the final training for the men's World Cup downhill in Kitzbuehel, Austria by more than a second on Thursday while Canada's Erik Guay was 16th, two days before the classic race on the Streif.
Casse timed 1 minute, 56.85 seconds on the 3.3-kilometre course, leading his teammate by 0.34. Vincent Kriechmayr came 1.03 behind in third but the Austrian missed a gate and would have been disqualified in a race.
Guay finished 1.69 seconds behind Casse.
Six other Canadians practised: Benjamin Thomsen finished 21st, Morgan Pridy was 42nd, Manny Osborne-Paradis was 51st, Jeffrey Frisch was 53rd, Broderick Thompson was 60th and Tyler Werry failed to finish the run.
Adrien Theaux of France, who was fastest in Tuesday's first training, was 1.07 back in fourth. Overall World Cup leader Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway finished 1.29 behind Casse.
Florian Scheiber of Austria crashed and was airlifted to the hospital with an apparent right knee injury.
Saturday's race will be streamed live on CBCSports.ca at 5:30 a.m. ET.
Kitzbuehel's Hahnenkamm mountain will also host a super-G and a combined race on Friday (CBCSports.ca, 5:30 a.m. ET, 10:30 a.m. ET) and a slalom on Sunday (4:15 a.m. ET and 7:15 a.m ET).
