The Chicago Blackhawks have given a three-year contract extension to general manager Stan Bowman that runs through the 2020-21 season.
Bowman is in his 15th season with the Blackhawks and his sixth as senior vice president and GM.
The Blackhawks have won three Stanley Cup championships in the past six seasons and Bowman is the first GM to win three titles in the salary cap era.
Bowman, who graduated from Notre Dame with degrees in finance and computer applications, is credited with building a core group of top players led by Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith and Marian Hossa and has re-signed Joel Quenneville, the second-winningest coach in NHL history, to two contract extensions.
