Mosaic Stadium has never looked so good as the gingerbread replica of the old stadium. It sits on display inside Regina's downtown Western Pizza restaurant.
The tasteful design includes construction materials such as gingerbread, licorice, marshmallows and icing.

It was built over a weekend by Crystal Zorn and Nick and Christine Kodellas. The Kodellas family owns the downtown Western Pizza location.
Zorn said it's a tribute to the 2016 farewell season for the old Mosaic Stadium. The Saskatchewan Roughriders will begin playing in the new Mosaic Stadium in 2017.
"I've grown up watching the Riders. Up in Section 28, the classic university section of the stadium," said Zorn.
"I know everyone has their own memory of being there over the years. So I hope our replica stirs memories for others as well."

Zorn said the stadium calorie count might be "millions".
During the construction, the builders had some fear the stadium might collapse under the weight of all the sweets, but they kept perspective.
"We were having so much fun with it, we said, 'Hey, if it collapses, we'll bring in a toy wrecking ball and say, hey this is the destruction of Taylor Field and Mosaic Stadium after the new one is built,' so we just went with it," Zorn said.

The gingerbread Mosaic Stadium will be set up in Western Pizza through the Christmas season. After that, they are open to any ideas about what to do with it.
An option might be to auction it off as a fundraiser for some worthy cause, Zorn suggested.
As for grabbing some of the stadium building material as a Christmas treat?
"No, no, no. I think we've eaten enough icing and gummy bears to last us a lifetime," Zorn laughed.
