Edmonton Oilers forward Nail Yakupov is expected to miss two to four weeks after spraining his left ankle in a 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night.

He was knocked down when linesman Matt MacPherson lost his balance and fell backwards after a faceoff early in the second period. Yakupov had to be helped off the ice.

"It could've been significantly worse based on what happened," Oilers coach Todd McLellan said Thursday. "Hopefully he heals quickly."

Yakupov had picked up his 100th career point earlier in the game. He has 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in 22 games this season.
