The Canadian diving team wrapped up a strong weekend at the FINA Diving Grand Prix in Rostock, Germany, with two more bronze medals on Sunday, bringing the team's total to seven.
Jennifer Abel, who won silver in the women's three-metre springboard on Saturday, teamed up with Pamela Ware in the three metre synchro. The two scored 285.24 to finished behind the Chinese team's 314.40 score and the Dutch team's 299.10.
"Our goal was probably to be first," Abel said in a release. "In general, it was a good first competition of the season. We're going to go back in Montreal and train more together."
Also adding another medal was Vincent Riendeau who won bronze in the 10m platform. The 19-year-old scored 464.25. Jian Yang of China took gold with 423.40 and France's Benjamin Auffret was silver with 512.70.
Riendeau's bronze adds to his silver yesterday in the 10m synchro, which he won alongside Philippe Gagné.
"This whole weekend is really big — it's one of our best Grand Prix's," said Riendeau. "We had two gold medals in the Canada Cup before but didn't medal in all four. Normally the women have the upper hand in Canada, but we proved last year that the men are up and coming as well and we hope to be there for the Olympics as well. We're going to try to be at the top."
The team returns to Canada with a seven-medal haul. Friday, Gagné finished third in the 3m springboard. Saturday he added the silver in the 10m synchro and another gold in the 3m synchro with Francois Imbeau-Dulac.
Abel won silver in the 3m springboard and Meaghan Benfeito was second in the 10m platform.
