Amy Schumer discusses her father Gordon's multiple sclerosis with Barbara Walters

Amy Schumer had an incredible 2015 with the success of her HBO show as well as her movie Trainwreck.

But when talking to Barbara Walters for ABC's The 10 Most Fascinating People special, the 34-year-old revealed she has had her shared of pain as well.

During a more serious moment in the interview, the New York native talked about her father Gordon who suffers from multiple sclerosis.

'Some days he’s really good and he’s with it and we’re joking around. And some days I go to visit my dad and it’s so painful. I can’t believe it.'

The comedienne was only 12 years old when her father was diagnosed with MS. A few years later her parents divorced.

And Amy admitted her father’s illness has taken a toll on her.

'In terms of my dad being sick, it was just confusing to me, especially the way MS works,' the best friend of Jennifer Lawrence said.

'He was in physical pain. That’s when I kind of took the lead and took care of everybody in my family.'

And that is how her sense of humor began to take shape.

'I would keep them - I would keep everybody laughing,' said the TV icon. 'I’m the one who ties it all together.

Last week Schumer was nominated for her first Golden Globe for her comedy Trainwreck.

Schumer stars in and wrote the screenplay for the romantic comedy which also stars Bill Hader and Brie Larson.

The film, her debut, is said to be autobiographical. Schumer plays Amy, a promiscuous magazine writer living in New York City, whose father suffers from MS.

The funny girl is expected to dress the same as Lawrence, who is also nominated for a Golden Globe. She got her nod for the film Joy.

Barbara Walters Presents: 10 Most Fascinating People 2015 will also feature actors Bradley Cooper and Tracy Morgan, American Ballet Theater principal dancer Misty Copeland, Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, UFC champion Ronda Rousey and fashion designer Donna Karan.

The most fascinating person of 2015 will be announced during the ABC News special, airing on December 17 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
