Three Canadian teams were back in action on Boxing Day. Here's a quick look at how they fared.
Slide continues for Canadiens
The Montreal Canadiens find themselves on a six-game slide and have dropped 10 of 11 overall after falling 3-1 to the Washington Capitals.
On the contrary, the Capitals have now pieced together a seven-game winning streak to continue their reign as the top team in the Eastern Confernce.
The Canadiens dropped to second place in their division after the Red Wings won 3-2 against Nashville. Both teams have 43 points but Detroit has played two fewer games.
Canucks claim extra point
The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in overtime, with Jannik Hansen scoring his second goal of the game.
Both goalies were spectacular throughout this contest making some highlight-reel saves, but Jacob Markstrom ended up having the upper hand over Cam Talbot.
The win pushed Vancouver to second in the pacific division, one point ahead of the San Jose Sharks.
