Wild start next chapter with recently fired Boudreau

The Minnesota Wild have hired Bruce Boudreau as their new head coach.

Minnesota announced the hiring with a statement on their website on Saturday night.

Boudreau, 61, was fired by the Anaheim Ducks on April 29 after being knocked out of the playoffs by the Nashville Predators in Game 7. Boudreau had led the Ducks to four consecutive Pacific Division titles and has eight career division titles.

Minnesota was seeking a new bench boss after firing Mike Yeo in February. John Torchetti filled in on an interim basis for the rest of the season and led the Wild to a first-round exit in six games against the Dallas Stars.

Boudreau is 409-192-80 in nine seasons as an NHL head coach with both the Ducks and Washington Capitals, where he won a Jack Adams Award in 2008.
