Now THAT'S a raffle prize: $49 ticket could land you a tropical island resort with dive centre, pool and 16 staff

  • It is being raffled off, with tickets starting at a low price and including images by an award-winning photographer

The resort is located on the tropical isle of Kosrae in a quiet corner of the Western Pacific Ocean and comes complete with its own highly rated three-acre resort and dive centre.

Popular with scuba divers and those seeking an untouched paradise, the Kosrae Nautilus Resort has built up an impressive reputation and positive reviews on TripAdvisor since it opened 22 years ago.

The 16-room hotel is situated in tropical gardens, with all bedrooms coming with two double beds, air-conditioning, 22-channel cable TV, a minibar and access to the resort's 32ft pool and private beach.

The winner will not only get their own debt-free business but they will also take on the island resort's staff, which includes 16 long-term employees.

The hotel is located just a 17-minute drive from Kosrae International Airport, which serves the island's 6,600 residents.

The resort offers scuba enthusiasts the chance to explore vibrant reefs, with water visibility of up to 196ft.

There is also a natural 'Blue Hole' in the reef that the resort claims is ideal for snorkelling and witnessing the area's wildlife. And nearby are sunken ships and planes from WWII to explore.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR THE OWNERS?

The terms and conditions state that if less than 50,000 tickets are sold, the advertised prize is not available.

If this is the case, 50 per cent of the money that has been raised will be given to the winner instead of the resort, which will be kept by the owners.

If the target is met, however, the owners will give the island away to the winner, and keep the money raised from the tickets.

This amount will be at least 50,000 x $49 totalling $2,450,000 (£1,668,141).

The once-in-a-lifetime competition is being offered by the current owners, who wish to give someone the opportunity to run their business, whilst raising money through the raffle sale.

'Rather than sell this precious oasis to the highest bidder, we thought it would be amazing for our resort to be placed in the hands of someone who truly fell in love with it – to make someone's dream come true,' says owner and manager Doug.

'We've felt so privileged to act as stewards of this tropical paradise for 15 years, and since we like to do things differently – we once raised over $45,000 through crowdfunding to have solar panels installed in the resort - we realised a raffle would be an exciting and world-first way to pass on the resort's ownership.'

Entrants who don't walk away with the grand prize will not leave empty handed, as with each pack of tickets bought comes one or more ocean-themed images by award-winning artist Matt Shepherd.

Individual $49 (£33) tickets come with a downloadable image that can be printed on canvas or paper and framed, with ten tickets priced at $264 (£180) inclusive of 10 Matt Shepherd images.

The winner will be announced on July 26, with keen individuals able to purchase their tickets on the competition's website
