Daredevil Di Huanran leaps 33ft into a waterfall to repeat his own world record

  • Di Huanran has repeated the stunt dozens of times over the past three decades, but never in front of such a crowd
  • The daredevil first made headlines in 2008 when he leapt off the top of the Diaoshuilou Falls in northeast China
  • His attempt earned him a world record for the highest waterfall dive as he plunged 33.99 feet into Lake Jingpo

A Chinese man who set a Guinness record for the world's highest waterfall dive in 2008 has repeated his death-defying feat once more in front of hundreds of impressed tourists - aged 59.

Di Huanran has in fact repeated the stunt dozens of times over the past three decades, but not every dive has been witnessed by so many visitors at the scenic spot he now calls his personal playground.

The daredevil first made headlines in 2008 when he jumped off the top of the Diaoshuilou Falls, located in Ningan County of China's north-eastern Heilongjiang Province, during a Guinness World Records TV special.

His attempt earned him a world record for the highest waterfall dive as he plunged 33.99 feet into the northern end of Lake Jingpo – which is now frequented by tourists in the springtime.

Earlier this month, large crowds cheered him on as he leapt once more down the falls into the lake, successfully repeating his record-breaking feat with ease.

And the act did not stop there, as he climbed back up the falls with his bare hands, reports said.

But Di chooses not only spring for his thrilling activity, as he can be seen leaping majestically into the waters in autumn and in winter – always wearing his tight red swimming trunks.

The extreme sports enthusiast told local media that he first discovered his love for the Diaoshuilou Falls in 1983, when he first leapt into the lake.

He was quoted as saying: 'After I discovered the sport that day, I climbed back up the falls and jumped three more times.'

Di added: 'I now dive here every day and thoroughly enjoy the experience of 'flying'.'

He vowed to continue diving – for himself and for spectators – well into his 60s and 70s.
