Sale shuts down Jays in 10-1 rout

Chris Sale threw eight stellar innings and former Blue Jay Dioner Navarro hit a two-run homer as the Chicago White Sox downed Toronto 10-1 on Tuesday.

Sale allowed four hits and a run while walking two batters and striking out six to improve to 5-0 on the season. The left-hander threw 100 pitches, 63 for strikes.

Avisail Garcia and Adam Eaton hit solo homers and Austin Jackson had a two-run double for the White Sox (15-6), who stretched their win streak to five games. Zach Putnam got three strikeouts in the ninth.

Edwin Encarnacion supplied all the offence for the Blue Jays (10-12) with his 200th career home run in a Toronto uniform.

Darwin Barney and Kevin Pillar each had singles and Michael Saunders hit a double in the eighth for Toronto's only other hits.

R.A. Dickey (1-3) allowed six runs on eights hits through six-plus innings in shouldering the loss. He also walked one and struck out three.
