How Canadian NHL teams fared last night

It was an action-packed Monday in the NHL as four Canadian teams took to the ice, but Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary all came up short.

Here's a quick look at how they fared:

Canadiens continue slide

The Montreal Canadiens turned out another lack-lustre performance in a 6-2 blowout at the hands of the Coyotes.

Arizona completed a season sweep over the Canadiens for the first time in 36 seasons as a franchise.

The Canadiens managed only 19 shots on Coyotes goalie Louis Domingue, who was backed up by a club player after Anders Lindback went down with an undisclosed injury prior to the match. Both Martin Hanzal and Oliver Ekman-Larsson had a goal and two assists.

Blackhawks trounce Leafs

It wasn't even close as the Chicago Blackhawks dominated the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 7-2 victory that saw an explosion of third period scoring.

The Blackhawks were firing on all pistons with goals from seven different players. Patrick Kane had a four-point night, scoring a goal and three assists for Chicago.

Toronto didn't respond until the closing 10 minutes when Mark Arcobello and P.A. Parenteau each tallied a goal against Scott Darling, who made 35 saves.

Wild end slump at Canucks' expense

With new interim coach John Torchetti's guidance, the Minnesota Wild snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 5-2 decision over the Vancouver Canucks.

The Wild outplayed Vancouver from the start, outshooting the Canucks 17-4 in the opening frame and maintaining pressure through the remaining periods.

Henrik Sedin and Christopher Tanev scored for Vancouver.

Ducks too hot to handle for Flames

The Anaheim Ducks scored in each of their three power plays to defeat the Calgary Flames 6-4 on Monday afternoon.

Mike Santorelli led Anaheim with two goals in the high-scoring affair, while Calgary's top line of Johnny Gaudreau, Jiri Hudler and Sean Monahan combined for nine points.

Anaheim is now 9-1-1 in their last 11 games.
