FINA Diving Grand Prix: Philippe Gagné adds 2 more medals

The Canadian diving team added three more medals to their count on Saturday in Rostock, Germany, at the FINA Diving Grand Prix competition, bringing their total to five.

After a bronze medal from Friday's three-metre springboard, Philippe Gagné added two more medals in the 3m synchro and 10-metre synchro platform.

Gagné and Francois Imbeau-Dulac, who finished fifth to Gagné's bronze in Friday's event, teamed up to win gold in the men's 3m synchro. The two scored 418.68, ahead of the German and French teams' respective 414.63 and 408.63 silver and bronze performances.

Later, Gagné returned with Vincent Riendeau to win silver in the men's 10m synchro platform. The duo was beat out by Zewei Xu and Xiaohu Tai, who scored 461.58 to the Canadians' 411.48.

Jennifer Abel captured a silver in the women's 3m springboard, scoring 328.05. She finished behind China's He Xiaojie, who scored 354.90 and ahead of bronze-winning Chen Yiwen, also of China, who scored 327.60. Canadian Pamela Ware finished sixth.

The diving action continues Sunday.
