Canada's Alex Gough, Mitchel Malyk, Tristan Walker, and Justin Snith combined for a podium finish at the luge world championships in Germany on Sunday, winning bronze in the team relay.

Germany took gold in a time of two minutes, 44.062 seconds while Latvia won silver in 2:45.614.

Canada's combined time of 2:45.907 was 1.805 seconds back of the Germans.

Earlier in the day, Olympic champion Felix Loch completed a near-perfect weekend for Germany by claiming his fifth luge world championship.

Loch's combined time of one minute, 38.864 seconds edged fellow German slider Ralf Palik by 0.423.

Wolfgang Kindl of Austria was third, 0.689 behind.

Loch says "it's simply brilliant. Here at home in front of the crowd, it's so awesome."
