Plans for the celebrations have been corroborated by City Hall, the police and blue-light services, transport bodies, local authorities and a range of other partners, and revellers are being asked to comply with guidance issued for the night.
This year’s fireworks display is ticketed and entirely booked out, so if you haven’t secured a ticket, police advice is simple: celebrate New Year’s Eve elsewhere and avoid the area around the official display – certain to be heavily congested for hours – completely. An increased number of stewards will be working around the display this year, bag searches will be in operation, and about 3,000 police officers will be on duty across central London, both within and outside the ticketed areas. Ticketholders attending the official celebrations should expect it to take longer to reach viewing areas than it has in previous years.
If you're coming to #LondonNYE don't forget that you need to arrive with the person who bought the tickets (and they need ID)

However, Metropolitan Police Service spokesperson, superintendent Jo Edwards, explained that this year’s security measures “are purely precautionary and not as a result of any specific intelligence.” The force will also be working closely with the British Transport Police, who will have additional armed officers in and around central London transport hubs throughout New Year’s Eve.
Those travelling to central London for New Year’s Eve celebrations either at the London Eye or elsewhere are also advised to plan their journey in advance via the Transport for London website. TfL is this year partnering with kayak.co.uk to offer free transport on bus, Tube, tram, DLR and London Overground lines from 11.45pm on December 31 to 4.30am on January 1. Some routes will be subject to restrictions and diversions, however, certain Tube stations will have limited or no access and many central London roads will be closed from 2pm onwards on New Year’s Eve until 6am on New Year’s Day.
And during the night itself, the most immediate New Year’s Eve updates, guidance and advice can be accessed via social media. Updates from the office of the Mayor of London and staff at City Hall will be disseminated through the @LDN_gov Twitter account and the Metropolitan Police Service will be tweeting from the @MetPoliceEvents account. Further information will be available at www.met.police.uk and www.london.gov.uk.
