Mike Cammalleri scored twice and Cory Schneider made 36 saves as the New Jersey Devils went into Ottawa Wednesday and shut out the Senators 3-0.

It was the seventh loss in the last 10 games for the Senators (18-14-6), who got an 18-save performance from Andrew Hammond.

Hammond lost for the third straight time in regulation for the first time in his young career.

The Devils (19-14-5) jumped one point ahead of the Senators and into the second wild-card berth in the Eastern Conference.

With the exception of a short-handed empty-net goal by Lee Stempniak with 16 seconds to play, there was no scoring in the final two periods. The Senators certainly had their chances though, outshooting the Devils 28-11 over that span, and 36-21 overall.

The Senators started the second period on the power play for 45 seconds and had two additional power plays during the period, including one from an embellishment penalty to the Devils Bobby Farnham, who flew through the air and then slid several feet clutching his knee trying to draw a penalty against Senators' captain Erik Karlsson.
