Wed: Nathan Lane has tied the knot. The 59-year-old Tony winner has wed his partner of 18 years, Devlin Elliott, according to a Friday report from People
Not a big fuss: They said 'I do' on Tuesday at New York City's City Hall and had a small party afterwards; here Lane is pictured on Wednesday with his new wedding band on at the 92nd Street Y
'Nathan and Devlin were married in a small ceremony in New York City this week. Everyone is extremely happy,' his rep told the site.
The theater vet flashed his gold wedding band on Wednesday at the Nathan Lane In Conversation With Joy Behar event at the 92nd Street Y in NYC. His new husband was by his side, but kept his hand in his pocket.
Nathan has worked on Broadway and starred in many films, such as 1994's The Lion King, 1996's The Birdcage, and 2005's The Producers. Elliott is a producer and a playwright.
With Joy: 'Nathan and Devlin were married in a small ceremony in New York City this week. Everyone is extremely happy,' his rep told the site; here they are seen with Ms Behar
They collaborated together on a children's book called Naughty Mabel. The character is based on their pet French bulldog, aged nine.
'She's become our version of a child .. really all she wants is for you to pick her up and hold her like a baby,' said Elliott.
'She's a little neurotic and needy at times. It's like living with a supermodel. And now that she's become a celebrity, you know, it’s very difficult,' added Lane.
The movie star came out in 1999 and later told The Advocate, 'I just assume a lot of people know. It's never been something I kept a secret.'
He came out to his family at age 21. And it was his role in The Birdcage that made him come out to the public, he added. 'I honestly felt it was not the time to suddenly also come out to America because I felt like I was playing this flamboyant gay character and to loudly come out would somehow overshadow that.'
